Director of Curriculum and Instruction

This posting is for the position of Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the Anglophone East School District. This position will be based out of the Office of the Superintendent providing support for all schools within the District.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Reporting to the Superintendent of Schools/CEO, the Director of Curriculum and Instruction position is part of the senior management team. This leadership position is responsible for the development, the ongoing monitoring and support for the implementation of subject curricula K-12 within the district to ensure adherence to prescribed learning outcomes, achievement standards, and supporting guidelines.

When required this position will act as a liaison between Curriculum Branch of Early Education & Child Development and will lead and coordinate ongoing professional learning to support the implementation of curricula in line with the District’s Education Plan & Provincial Education Plan. This position will collaborate with other senior staff for the planning of in-service and training programs for schools and is responsible for reporting to the Superintendent of Schools on student and school achievement. When required this position will provide support for district operations in the development, implementation and support of the District Education Plan.

Duties:

  1. Leads and organizes and support the development and implementation of all subject area curricula mandated by the Minister. This includes the continual monitoring of objectives and outcomes established through Department and District policy and guidelines.
  2. Research, develop, organize, coordinate, and implement strategic long term staff development programs with Principals for teachers that support the efficient and effective implementation of curriculum standards for student growth and learning.
  3. Is responsible for reporting to the Superintendent of Schools on the analysis of local, provincial, national, and other data for the purpose of recommending strategies and programs that support curriculum development and implementation described in School Improvement Plans, District Education plans and the preparation of the District Report Card.
  4. Support and provide advice to the Directors of Schools and Principals regarding matters relating to effective implementation of programs and services that support a quality, inclusive education environment in schools.
  5. Is responsible for the managing, administration, audit budgets, and resources related to curriculum implementation and training programs.
  6. Responsible for the supervision of staff within assigned areas of responsibility.
  7. Oversee and participate in meetings, direct interventions, mediations, appeals and other activities that support the effective and efficient delivery of District programs and services.
  8. When required will communicate and collaborate with parents, community groups and other agencies that require information or direction regarding issues related to curricula and other issues.

Qualifications and Experience:

Salary: This is a Management and Non-Union Position at Pay Band 9 from a salary range of $4264.00 to $4694.00 biweekly.
